Dana Point Plumbing
Dana Point became a city on January 1, 1989, but several of its neighborhoods are much older. Lantern Village, the historic core, dates to the Dana Point Syndicate of 1926, and its streets still carry lantern names such as Street of the Blue Lantern. Capistrano Beach began as a Doheny family development of Spanish-style houses in 1928. Dana Point Harbor, with its marina, shops and restaurants, was dedicated in 1971. Monarch Beach sits near the Laguna Niguel line, Niguel Shores faces eroding bluffs along the Strand, and the Strands at Headlands replaced a mobile home community that closed in the late 1980s.
Two water districts serve the city. South Coast Water District, founded in 1932, supplies water and collects wastewater in Dana Point and also serves South Laguna. Moulton Niguel Water District covers some portions of the city. SCWD’s wastewater is treated by the South Orange County Wastewater Authority, whose J.B. Latham plant on Del Obispo Street dates from 1964. Under SCWD’s rules, the lateral from the house to the district main belongs to the homeowner to maintain. Plumbing permits, plan review and inspections are handled by the city’s Building and Safety Division on Golden Lantern.

Trusted Plumbing Service in Dana Point
Common problems in Dana Point start with age and location. Laterals in the older Lantern Village and Capistrano Beach homes are often clay or cast iron, so roots and broken joints are frequent causes of backups. Harbor restaurants and other commercial kitchens put grease into lines that need regular cleaning. Sand from the beach settles in outdoor and laundry drains, and hard water leaves scale in water heaters, tankless units and fixtures. Homes on slopes and bluffs can have long lateral runs that sag over time.
We begin with a camera so you know what is in the pipe before choosing a fix. A simple hair clog gets a cable. Grease, roots and packed sand get hydro jetting. We also find hidden leaks with electronic leak detection, repair or reline sewer laterals, and repair or replace water heaters. Our phone, (888) 300-9648, is staffed around the clock.
