Fullerton Plumbing
Fullerton was founded as a Santa Fe railroad town in 1887 and incorporated in 1904. Orange groves came first, and an oil boom that peaked in the 1920s left a Spanish Colonial Revival downtown that includes the Fox Theatre. After World War II, housing tracts took over much of the farmland. The newest large neighborhood, Amerige Heights, went up between 2001 and 2004 on the former Hughes Aircraft campus.
That mix shows up underground. Some owners in Lower Golden Hill, Oceanview and the Skyline Park tract, laid out in the late 1920s, have asked the city about historic preservation zones, while postwar housing tracts cover much of the rest of the city. Laterals under the older houses are often the original clay or cast iron, and some run to mains in rear easements rather than under the street.
Water comes from the city itself. Fullerton formed its municipal water system in 1906 and now draws about 77 percent from 10 wells in the south part of town, with the rest imported through the Metropolitan Water District. The Public Works Sewer Division looks after more than 320 miles of sewer pipe, and the Orange County Sanitation District treats the wastewater. Plumbing permits go through the Building and Safety Division on the second floor of City Hall, 303 W. Commonwealth Avenue.

Trusted Plumbing Service in Fullerton
Roots are a frequent cause of sewer backups under older Fullerton houses. The city only clears roots from its own street trees, and only for enrolled homes with a front directional cleanout, so most root, grease and wipe clogs land on the owner. We find the cause with a camera, then clear it with hydro jetting or repair the pipe if it is broken.
By the city’s own figures, tap water here carries between 14 and 25 grains of hardness per gallon. Scale builds up in tank water heaters, faucet cartridges and toilet valves, and a heater full of sediment works harder and wears out sooner. We flush, repair and replace tank and tankless units.
Houses from the 1920s through the 1950s may still have galvanized supply pipe that rusts shut from the inside. When low pressure and brown water show up together, we test the lines and quote repiping only where it is needed. We also track down slab leaks with leak detection equipment before anyone opens a floor.
